Last week, the American Unified Port of San Diego, the port company of the city of San Diego, was welcomed by the WTC and its economic partners Rotterdam Partners, Rotterdam Expat Centre, InnovationQuarter and Rotterdam Maritime Services Community. At the initiative of the World Trade Center Rotterdam, the Unified Port of San Diego was given a tour of the city of Rotterdam. The Unified Port of San Diego was represented by Bella Heule, Chief Marketing Officer/Vice President, and Stefan Baumann, Principal Maritime Business Development.
For the occasion, Rotterdam Partners had put together a varied program that gave a good impression of the maritime-based economic opportunities offered by the city of Rotterdam and its port.
From WTC Rotterdam, the delegation headed for the Maritime Museum Rotterdam which showcases Rotterdam’s maritime history. At the request of the Port of San Diego, the emphasis of the visit was on the off-shore industry. From the Museum, the group made its way by water taxi to RDM Campus Rotterdam to visit the Campus and the Innovation Dock. The former RDM shipyard now houses startups and educational and research institutes. The last visit was to the Erasmus Centre for Entrepreneurship (ECE) in the Rotterdam Science Tower. The ECE, a successful Erasmus University initiative, fast-tracks young entrepreneurs to a successful future.
The visitors were exhilarated by their tour of Rotterdam. Bella Heule said “WTC Rotterdam and partners pulled out the red carpet of hospitality, information exchange on trade, Foreign Direct Investment, development and innovation, and the best sights the Port of Rotterdam offers. Insightful, thought-provoking and fun experience!”
The partners too look back at a very successful day and have already made good business connections with the Unified Port of San Diego.
